Scripture of Day: Psalm 73: 21-28

Flying High or Flying Low?

This morning I woke up to a sky filled with beautiful hot air balloons. There were at least 10 scattered all over the sky, gliding in a background of rolling hills, fluffy clouds and a light blue sky.  From my window, I had a thought,  the driver of each of these balloons has a choice on how high they fly or how low they fly. Some of them were so high in the clouds that they seemed to be touching heaven, while others were so close to the ground or hills ; it looked as if they could crash.

It occured to me that we have a choice on how close or far away we feel from God.  It’s no different than our friends. Some friends we talk to on a daily basis, some on a weekly basis, while others are more like a long distance friend. Some of our dearest friends we haven’t talked to in years. Yet, when we reconnect, we catch up quickly,  feeling as no time has passed at all. I can’t tell you how many times I reconnected and think,  I miss talking to them! The more we invest in our friendships with time and love, the closer the bond and friendship.

God does not want to be a long distance friend. He  is waiting to  have a deeper relationship with you, not just here and there..but everyday!If we can make time to go to Wal-mart,  the post office, make time to work out, go to the dentist, then why is it that we don’t make time for the most important friend of all, God? Shouldn’t HE be on your daily calendar?

So How Do You Grow Your Relationship with the Lord?

Call Him: AKA: Pray!

Prayers are a fantastic way to spend time with God.  Rather than running away from God or forgetting about him, we must trust him, keep faith,  and rely on Him to work in our lives. Talk to him like you would a friend. It doesn’t have to be formal, he knows you. In fact, he knows every hair on your head! So talk straight, be real and he will listen!

Get to Know Him:

Join A Bible Study, Read the Bible,  Read Christian books, Make a Christian Radio Station your choice in the car, Books on CD, Bible on CD. The Sky is the limit. Pray that God lead you to the right place where you can get to know him better, build a stronger relationship.  Then, devote a part of your day everyday to getting to know God better, learning HIS word.

Who wants an  up & down spiritual life?  Just like the hot air balloons, we have a choice on how high our spiritual life is thus feeling “high on life” or how Low we feel. To keep the relationship strong, we must stay close to God by fly high through prayer and daily devotion and remembing God is close we just have to call on him.

Scripture for the Day: Psalm 73: 21-28

When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,  I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.  Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.  But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

Make a Comment on this. I love to hear how God is working in your life or prayer requests. (You can put Private or Public. )
