Do the Right Thing Every Time.
Yesterday, Brax and I were at Costco. When we were leaving, we noticed what seemed to be a 1000 baskets in a random place crowded around a tree making it impossible for many car spots to be used. It seems that one person left a basket under the tree near the curb instead of walking it to the basket cage. Then, another person did. Then, another. It was crazy how many people lazily didn’t choose to do the right thing and put their basket up in the proper place. Perhaps, they justified because there were so many baskets cluttered.
Braxton looked over there and said, ” I kind of feel like going to put all those baskets up, momma. ”
I was still shuffling our goods in the car , but said ” if you want to do that I’ll help you. Do you want to do that? ”
She said, “yes.”
Ironically, as we were about to start the cart adventure, a man, healthy enough to put his basket up in the right place, added to the collection of misplaced baskets.
So Braxton and I made several trips back and forth. We put one basket inside the next, inside the next. Soon we had a train of baskets. Then, one of us got on the end of the baskets and the other attempted to steer the big load. We worked hard but after several cart “train trips” ; we cleaned up the mess of others. Sure there are workers that can do clean up. But I loved her helpful spirit and loved the servants heart inside her to do the “right thing.” We made it easier for the Costco worker and easier for people to park. We actually saw several people use the freed up parking spaces before we left. Can’t help but think that Braxton Bird got a little wink and smile from Jesus on her good deed initiative.
A few thoughts crossed my mind about this event:
- Sometimes it does take collective effort to pick up other peoples messes. Like beach or roadside clean up. We need to lead by example, roller up our sleeves to make this world a better place.
- Look how easily people follow suit in the area of wrongness or sin. Monkey see/Monkey do. If everyone does it, why shouldn’t I? Justification for wrong, doesn’t make wrong right. We must be better than, not equal to or less than. If you see an elderly person or physically challenged person, take their basket back for them. If you see someone challenged in putting heavy in the back of their car, ask if they need help.
- We must lead by examples in every aspect of our lives. Our children watch us and learn a ton from us. They learn about respecting people, caring for animals and our planet. Every little choice really sends a message about the core of our being. But our children also teach us so much. Forgive and forget quickly. Slow down and fun.. and the list goes on.
- Upon life review, small acts of kindness will far exceed what we deem life achievements or routine to dos. So make your daily goal to be kind, loving, helpful and generous. It’s truly not all about us.
Scripture:
I have a passion and compassion for people, and I love YHWH ( God) with all my heart and soul. It is my higher calling to share the teachings and love of Jesus (Yahshua) through: writing, praying, teaching and public speaking. In the Mighty name of our Messiah, through the Holy Spirits help, I passionately help set captives free from strongholds. Together with His Power, we destroy the enemy and his schemes. This frees you to live a purposeful, joyful and fulfilling life for Christ.Shea Brewer
