In The Storms of Life
This rain and storm feels like a blessing to some and a curse to others. But through both sides of this experience we will see God, through the Holy Spirit moving in all directions.
He will come in the hearts of rescuers, through those who pour in donations and felt in the hearts of those who receive the love. He will be in the hearts of strangers who lend a helping hand. People will find themselves praying constantly, even for strangers they never knew. Many will pray for protection, guidance, even crying out to the Lord for help. We will put our faith into action and our dependence on the one that controls everything.
Farmers and those who have been on water restrictions, will rejoice in the blessing of rain, thanking God for lifting the draught. Many will show up to what was once a barren lake vowing to never take the lake or the rain for granted again. We see people pulling out fishing poles, kayaks, children playing in waterfalls and rain puddles smiling ear to ear.
Scripture shows us that water can be a blessing, it can cleanse, it can quench. It also shows us that a rain draught can symbolize a spiritual drought in the lives of people. We also see that a flood can be devastating. Though these Texas storms, we see both sides of this spectrum, if our eyes are open can see and feel God in all directions.
Some who have forgotten God will suddenly find themselves in prayer, surprising even themselves, perhaps when they are hunched down in a closet fearing a tornado, trapped by water or praying for those that are missing. God has a way through trials and tribulations bringing people back into his loving arms.
So through this God will glorify his name, and will pour his love out upon us. He will draw us closer to him in many facets. The love of God is always a blessing, no matter how we feel that love.
We should continue to pray for those who are hurting, lost and for those who are risking their lives for others. We too should put our faith in action and do what we can to help.
We pray that God is glorified in this experience and that he draws all to him. This life is a mere breath, a realm we are passing through, we should always look at our trials and our blessings from an eternal perspective.
Psalm 34:19 ESV
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
