Let Your Light Shine Before Others!

Living  Life Through God’s Perspective

Yesterday was a long day of flight delays due to bad weather in Florida. Not sure why hanging out at an airport makes you so tired and drained, but it does. You know when your tired, sometimes your not quite yourself.

 After we got our rental car, we went stopped into a gas station before we got on the toll road to get some change.  The guy at the rental car counter warned us not to run any tolls or anything because there was a fine of $50.00 per incident. We hadn’t planned on running any tolls, but we don’t know the toll roads. We were afraid that we would get to a booth with no attendant and just a basket to throw change, with no change.  So we stopped in at a gas station to get some quarters.

After I got $2.00 in change, I came out of the gas station and saw a car pulling into the handicap space. Not sure what came over my tired brain, but I looked on the license plate, the windows and all over the car for a handicap sticker. There was not a sticker. Wondering why did she park there? There were lots of parking spots up front. Soon a perfectly fit  lady jumped out of the car,  without thinking I said, ” I think you’re in a handicap space.”  

Not in a rude way at all, but in a non-chalent “pass the salt” kind of voice, she said, ” I know.”   Her attitude was that she did that on purpose and didn’t care at all.  Wow? I have to admit, it bothered me and made me sad. What if someone who really needed that spot pulled up and saw her? My heart would hurt for them.

This got me thinking about all the choices we make on a daily basis:   how we deal with stress, approach strangers, talk to our kids and spouses.  If we slowed down and  made a conscious effort to approach every aspect of our life from God’s perspective, I think some of our choices would be different.  

Not sure what is going on in that ladies life, I’ll pray for her. But I’ll also make a conscious effort to be more loving in all areas of my life, living life with God’s perspective in mind, being gracious to all.

Scripture of the Day: Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is heaven.”
