Selfishness

Here is the journal Spirit led writing from 9/5/2019.

I am really encouraging all to start your day off with quiet time with the Spirit. Write down a few questions, emotions, concerns and sit quietly. Then, open your journal and let the words flow out. If you hear nothing, then open the bible, read left and right, writing down the scriptures or theme that speaks to you. We have got to get to a place where we listen more. Prayer is great but listening and reading word will allow the Holy Spirit to teach, guide and correct you.

Jude 1: 19 teaches us….

Do not follow mere natural instincts but be led by the Holy Spirit.

Everyone has an area where selfishness still reigns and dominates. No one is completely selfless. In one area one gives, in another area he/she serves self. People see things differently, gaging importance according to their own personal standards. The key is to examine the areas of which each we still serves self or  own agenda and desires.  Then pray for strength and ideas to remove selfishness in the areas that the Spirit highlighted for us.

Serving can be tiresome, alone time, prayer time and rest are necessary. Recharging is not selfish but necessary so that you may serve in joy and love. When you do not take time out, it is the foothold for bitterness, resentment and built up animosity, often feelings of not being appreciated.

It is a fine balance. If you take too much time for self, selfishness sets in, you start to disregard the feelings of others and soon you lose your ability or desire: to empathize, to help, to show compassion or mercy.

Immaturity at the root comes from selfishness, wanting to be free to pursue desires, ambitions and worldly pleasures rather than serving others.

To offset Spiritual immaturity, wisdom must be pursued, cultivated and sought after daily.  Wisdom will help us monitor and examine our thoughts and actions, self-reflecting so that we can correct and improve.  The ultimate goal is to imitate Yahshua, become a pleasing child of love and light.

Reflection:

  1. In what areas do you feel like you need work? Perhaps, you are a bit selfish?
  2. IIs there anyone in particular that needs a little more TLC from you?
  3. Do you need to recharge? How and When can you do that? Make a plan. Keep it. Even if it’s a nightly walk or prayer, a day away.

Scripture:

Philippians 2: 3-4

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

James 3: 16

For where envy and self-seeking exists, confusion and every evil thing are there.

I have a passion and compassion for people, and I love YHWH ( God) with all my heart and soul. It is my higher calling to share the teachings and love of Jesus (Yahshua) through: writing, praying, teaching and public speaking. In the Mighty name of our Messiah, through the Holy Spirits help, I passionately help set captives free from strongholds. Together with His Power, we destroy the enemy and his schemes. This frees you to live a purposeful, joyful and fulfilling life for Christ.
