Taming the Tongue

N.A.G

Now Ask God!

All of us are guilty of nagging, wheither we nag our spouses, our kids, friends or family. Most of the time, nagging gets you nowhere!

I’m not saying to stop communicating, but  start praying about how to communicate your needs in a loving way. Then, back off and let God do the transforming.

The bible tells us that the tongue is ” a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” I know from personal experience that I can definitely have a sharp tongue especially when I am passionate on a subject and feel like I’m not being heard.

Many times when we nag our husbands or wives or kids, it becomes a source of irritation and dead noise to them. They just stop listening and caring .

I recently went to a small group where the topic of addiction came up.  They said,  “You didn’t cause it, you can’t control it and  you can’t cure it.” They went onto say nagging the person with the addiction won’t help because people are going to do what they want to do, period.

But guess what,  God can control it and  He can cure it!  ( even though HE certainly wasn’t the one who caused it).

So N.A.G now stands for: Now Ask God! Nag God about your needs, your perspective and your patience.

Scripture of the day: ” Taming the Tongue” James 3

1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Questions: ( feel free to comment: private or public, ask for prayers or subscribe)

1. Consider times in your life where you let your anger make your tongue sharp?

2. Are there certain things that you just need to turn over to God and N.A.G him?

I have a passion and compassion for people, and I love YHWH ( God) with all my heart and soul. It is my higher calling to share the teachings and love of Jesus (Yahshua) through: writing, praying, teaching and public speaking. In the Mighty name of our Messiah, through the Holy Spirits help, I passionately help set captives free from strongholds. Together with His Power, we destroy the enemy and his schemes.
