Trust during Off Road Adventures….
TRUSTED TOUR GUIDE:
There are two ways to get to my daughter’s school, I can turn left or I can turn right. Both of these get to the same place. I tend to always turn right out my driveway, seems safer as I turn with traffic instead of crossing traffic to head west. One day, not thinking I turned left out my driveway which somehow bothered my 3 year old. She yelled, “We’re going the wrong way, Mommy. We’re going the wrong way!”
I told her , “Braxton, trust me. We can go to school this way too. It’s just a different way to go. “
Sometimes in life, we feel like God is taking us down a dirt road, the scenic route. We question God as to why it takes so long to get where we think we need to be. But we too must trust the driver of our life. He can enrich us, enlighten us, fine tune and use journey to bring God to other people.
He has an amazing way of using the bumps in the road for his greater good and purpose. When the journey seems long and burdensome have comfort knowing that God is the MASTER of all trusted tour guides. He knows what he is doing. Stay faithful as he works in your life.
Trust During Uncomfortable Times
Another instant that struck me with little Braxton was when I was asking her lean her head back in the bathtub so the soap wouldn’t get in her eyes. The awkward position of leaning your head back seems torturous to both of us. I said, ” Braxton, trust me . Lean your head back so the soap won’t get in your eyes. Mommy, love you, doesn’t want to hurt you, and I don’t want it to sting. But you must listen and lean your head back.”
Like Braxton, when we fight God’s will, it can be painful to us and to God. Why when life feels uncomfortable; we sometimes fight God. How often do we fight Him , try to take control of our lives, only to feel the sting of not obeying him.
We may not be able to make sense of what the Lord wants of us right now. We must fully trust; we must obey the wishes of God that are written on our hearts and we must stay in constant communication with HIM through prayer . Have comfort knowing that He has our best interest at heart… take a deep breath, everything will work itself out.
Prayer today: God help us to trust the journey..knowing that you are with us even if it seems like an off-road adventure. Help us to trust even when you ask us to work out things that feel uncomfortable…
Scripture Reading: Read in Genesis ” The story of Joseph.” His path was long and hard….but God used all the sin against him for HIS glory and His good.
Lessons from his life: What matters is not so much the events or circumstances of life, but your response to them. With God’s help, any situation can be used for good, even when others intend for it to be evil.
Quick Scripture for today: Jeremiah 33:3:
” Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. “
Lesson: Pray because we may not have the answers to our problems but God has the answer.
Thoughts for Today:
1. Are you tired from a long troublesome problem, something that seems to have no end? Thank God for the journey, ask him to reveal HIS truth during the long road, ask him to use your stories for HIS glory…ask for his help and to help you find peace along the way…
2. Is God asking you to work on something or do something that seems painful, awkward or uncomfortable?
